Start a cadence on a contact or lead

Enroll one record into the right sequence and confirm that the first step is eligible.

Open the record

Open the contact or lead detail page. Real estate workspaces label this area Contacts; other industries label it Leads.

Choose the cadence

  • Select Start cadence or Enroll in cadence from the record actions.
  • Choose the template that matches the source, stage, and intent.
  • Confirm the sender, owner, and start date.
  • Review the first step before enrolling.

Check eligibility

  • Missing email blocks email steps.
  • Unverified or non-mobile phone numbers block automated SMS steps.
  • STOP opt-out and do-not-contact flags block outreach.
  • A record already in the same active cadence may be blocked from duplicate enrollment.

Confirm it started

  • The active cadence appears on the record timeline or cadence panel.
  • The next due step shows a date, channel, and owner.
  • Skipped steps show a reason so the rep knows what to fix.
