Duplicate lead merge

Two records for the same person — merge or keep separate?

Symptom

  • Duplicate warning when adding or importing leads
  • Two timelines for the same contact

Common causes

  • Same email or phone submitted twice (form, import, Meta)
  • Import did not match existing record
  • Rep manually created duplicate

Fix

  • Use merge suggestion when prompted on create/import
  • Leads → open duplicate → Merge — pick primary record
  • Form filter on Leads list to find source duplicates
  • Prefer merge over delete to preserve timeline history
