When a lead texts STOP (or carrier equivalent), the number is opted out. Automated SMS cadence steps skip with SMS_OPT_OUT.
Do not call / do not contact
- DO_NOT_CONTACT blocks cross-channel automation
- DO_NOT_EMAIL blocks email cadence steps separately
- Manual outreach may still be allowed per your compliance policy — check lead flags before calling
Form marketing consent
Form submissions without marketing consent still create leads but skip SMS cadence steps. Email may still send if eligible.
What to do after opt-out
- Remove lead from active SMS cadences
- Do not add back without documented consent
- Review thread in Messages for the STOP confirmation
